Could the server be bogged down?  Pagefile not big enough, raid resynching, too much stuff auto starting, disable or put to manual any unnecessary services....  Search black viper's website ...he's a smart cookie.

This thing is a pile of "user friendly wizards". You click manage and it brings up a server management wizard.

On the plus side, I was able to recover two missing hard disks via the compmgmt.msc snap-in. Woot!
