Ugh. We had planned on having KG's mom and her husband over for Turkeyday, first time in, well, ever. Her husband called yesterday to tell us she was sick and they won't be able to make it.
Today she pressed for more information and her mother is dying. She refuses treatment.We're going to bring food over there but nobody expects she will be able or willing to eat.

Oh so sorry for Kitty. Something about holidays. I hope it is a good visit, one to last you both.
As for me, I've got two batches cranberry and orange chutney made up today in the fridge. Next up, boil 5 pounds of Yukon gold potatoes and mash them up with 8 oz of creme cheese , 1/2 cup or more of half & half along with salt and pepper. Think i'll store them in the fridge like that tonight and then throw them in the stove with some butter on top tomorrow. Plan on walking the dogs early and then leave them in the yard when I head out to my brother's house around 9.
At the end of the evening I'm planning on bringing both my nephew, niece and their dog over to spend that and the next night here so they can go fight it out at the stores early Friday. Glad I'm not going.

Very sorry to hear that. How are the three (CD/KG/her hubby) of you taking it? Does Moms refusal come from a position of reason?

We're ok now, I imagine the gravity of the situation will sink in when we see her.
I can't answer the second question, only Fred (the husband) can. She is currently experiencing dementia but I don't know if the refusal was before onset. I suggested to KG that we to talk to Fred to find out. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
As you can probably imagine everyone feels pretty damn helpless.
