Talking with a very nice and understanding person on FB messenger.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Trying to apply nit medicine on my cat and not have the bastard wash it off five seconds later. But, I have a cunning plan.
Use a comb to separate a parting of hair on the back of his neck and squish the nit stuff in the seam then before he goes, ello ello ello what's all this then, whip out the lazer pointer and have him race around the kip for ten minutes to evaporate the alcohol. Sorted.
Nit medicine:
Frontline - Fipronil; fucking useless.
Advantage - Imidacloprid; fucking useless.
Stronghold/Revolution - Selamectin; this stuff works.
Unfortunately: it's on prescription. Why in the fuck is cat nit medicine on prescription? Could it be because it actually works? You can't walk into the vets and buy the swag, no you have to take the 'patient' with you and after ten second examination they tell you the moggie has fleas. Well fuck my old boots here's me thinking it was Parkinsons disease!
'Here's your invoice sir, that will be £40 for the consultation and £20 for the poison'.
And £20 for taxis cos the fat bastard's too heavy to carry.
Cunts!
It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.

Won't this kill the little pests just as well? It's cheaper, to boot.
How To Give A Cat A Bath
1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.
2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water, and have both lids lifted.
3. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.
4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids (you may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape). CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge of the toilet, as his paws - and claws - will be reaching out for any object they can find.
5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a "powerwash and rinse" which I have found to be quite effective.
6. Have someone open the door to the outside, and ensure that there are no people between the toilet and the outside door.
7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.
8. The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and run outside, where he will proceed to dry himself.
Sincerely,
The Family Dog

Sampling the New York Times and my local paper online. Thinking about starting to read the paper regularly instead of relying on CBS evening news to fill my needs. Realizing that because of the cost, if I go this way, I'll likely have to choose one or the other based upon cost.
Meanwhile, it's close to game time for today's Twins baseball game, so time to put that aside for now.

Listening to 80s music on Pandora and continuing in my task to assemble a coterie of reliable news sources to keep me on top of current events.

Slept in and then had a late breakfast -- baked half a pound of really nice bacon on a cookie sheet, and had a couple of slices with fried eggs and a slice of sourdough bread with cherry preserves. Went to the gym, dropped off some stuff at a thrift store, dropped off a book at a coffee shop and got another one from their "take one, leave one" collection.
When I got home I played clarinet for a while -- my main clarinet just came back from a tune-up and cleaning, and sounds and feels great -- and then poked away at the piano for a while trying to sight-read some Bach 2-part inventions. (Spoiler alert: I can read the notes just fine, but my piano fingering is atrocious and needs a lot of work.)
Picked up some pencil crayons while I was out, and will probably work on some sketches for my astronomy observing logbook. In particular I needed yellow and orange to do a nice drawing of Mars as I saw it last Wednesday.

Doing a study on how deep I can make a high-relief wood carving. I only work on it on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the carving class, because I don't really have a dedicated place at home that is ergonomically suited for it. Need to work on that, too.
Almost finished with plastering up the wall where I had to open it up to replace the shower plumbing.
