I submitted my resume to a private business jet charter and aircraft management company. The job I applied for is remarkably similar to what I do now -- just involving aircraft rather than cargo vessels.
We'll see how it goes.
A quick follow-up.
I received word that my resume has garnered some interest within the HR department and that it is being pushed to the hiring manager(s) to set up a phone interview. I guess that's good news, provided I don't run true to form during the call when it comes next week. I am remarkably bad at job interviews. I have an almost Trumpian genius for stepping all over my own message in such discussions, so I'm hardly out of the woods. But this is an encouraging development.
True story: About 25 years ago, I got a management job in a group home for developmentally disabled adults. After a couple of months working with the guy who hired me, we went out for a beer after work one evening. While we were sitting there, shooting the shit, he said, "You know, I've interviewed a lot of people over the years, and I must say that your interview was without doubt the worst I've ever heard. I mean, you didn't manage to say one 'correct' thing throughout our meeting."
Taken aback, I asked, "Then why the hell did you hire me?"
"Well, I figured one of two things had to be true. You were either the most brutally honest person I was likely to talk with, or you were crazy. Either way, I thought it would be interesting to work with you."

Morning is going to be fun. I'll need to help K with his bootstraps and then I'll have to braid S's hair for her. She wants me to cut it this weekend for her.
He's seriously talking about joining the military upon graduation from high school. Smart kid if he does it because he could probably go to college for free through the GI bill. The JROTC program will be good practice for him.
Be very careful of promises made by recruiters about the GI bill. You can go to school for free utilizing it, but it's not as easy as they make it sound.

Every time you mention ROTC all I see is the scene From Animal House.

I'm currently using one of the four precision instrument boxes Dad got off one of his friends (as seen in this post elsewhere in the thread) as a pick case [the smallest one in the pic], specifically for "luxury" picks, the sort that aren't mass-produced, either because of unusual material or because of an unusual shape. Currently, it houses:

Spent most of the day massaging music data for use with Plex media server so I can play my music through my home entertainment center. I fixed the filenames and tags on about 1,000 albums. I've got that many and more to go, but those shouldn't take as long to process as these did. Looking forward to getting it completed so I can enjoy the fruits of my labors. In the meantime, it's a lot of tedium. (I'm listening to a playlist now. The sound quality from my entertainment center is far superior to that from my computer speakers.)

Did you hear that Orson Welles' last, unreleased film, is finally being released? I thought that might interest you. See the following article:

Easier ways to get college money. If he does it, I've got some advice for signing up.
Make sure you get an mos you really want -no settling-. Remember, recruiters are salesmen with quotas and bonuses. If you can do whatever it is they're offering elsewhere, for better pay and dealing with less day to day military shit, opt for that instead. The service will also pay back student loans already paid out, you can get in as an officer...and you'll have even more choice military and civilian.

Due to AdBlock (which I keep because of problems with malvertising that invariably occur shortly after I disable it or even whitelist a site), I was not able to read that article. So I found this version

And then I finally realised, "holy shit, this is happening. This is finally going to be shown." They finally have a release date, November 22. And not only that, but, according to the Wikipedia page, it's going to be premiered tomorrow at the Venice Film Festival. Well, technically, more like later today, since it's currently 2:16 AM Venice time.
And here's the trailer:

All great advice and I'll take it under advisement. He's only in the 9th grade so we have plenty of time for decision making.

Ah, 9th grade, eh? Then definitely -don't- tell him that the guys in uniform really do get all the girls, or it'll be a done deal.

Ha ha.... he already has a girlfriend.
She's a 10th grader and S's best friend. I know, I know....it's a dangerous situation with the sister/best friend in the middle of that mess. S has been given a direct order to stay out of the middle of K's relationship with this girl.
