So do we. Ellen found her in the service alley behind her shop. She (the kitten) looks to be about 3 weeks old. Probably dumped.

Oh no...that's so young!

My niece works with a cat rescue agency in Chicago and fosters cats and kittens...she hasn't taken on tiny ones though. My cousin does take in kittens in need of bottle feeding for the agency she works with on the east coast.

We keep telling ourselves that we’re just fostering this wee one, and that if she makes it, we’ll adopt her out. We both know that’s bullshit.

The hottest fires of hell are reserved for people who abandon kittens.

Finalized my order for a new bed. It's a 14" Lucid plush memory foam mattress from Amazon. They've run out of stock, so it may take a few weeks before it arrives. Amazon says September 21st.

With the shot and masks, I should be able to avoid the flu though.

Recently decided to expand my obsession with predecimal British coinage to keychain form. I’ve ordered three from Etsy and two have come so far. The ones that came were a brass three pence from 1960 that came from, of all places, Las Vegas, and a sixpence that wound up being a bit complicated. Why? Because they included a 7mm split ring and a predrilled 1967 sixpence. And it took about half an hour of attempts at getting the split ring to open before I just broke down and asked Dad to figure it out. And given that it seems to require a clamp, a knife to open up the split, and a third hand to push the coin (and also a small keyring chain I had lying around) into the opening, this looks like it will be tough.

So, here’s the results.

And, since it came with a little card and sleeve to commemorate the old tradition of putting a sixpence in a bride’s shoe before a wedding, and I already had a sixpence with some actual silver in it from a bulk purchase, I taped that one to the card, put that one in the sleeve, and that sleeve in my wallet.

Also, because I already have her complete Decca recordings, Commodore masters, and a budget 6-disc release that covers the albums she released in her last years (except for Last Recording) and I managed to find a cheap copy on Alibris, I just ordered a four-disc set of the master takes from her Columbia years.
