Running a backup on my old iPad Air 2 so I can transfer the data onto the new iPad. It might have to be a manual transfer since I've tried Quick Start three times and it's failed each time.

I am currently posting this from my birthday gift: a new iPad 9. It looks like everything that can be carried over has been. It may take a while for me to post a picture of the new one and its new case.

Currently waiting for the rest of the apps to update, and also waiting for the pictures I took to sync up.

"Wee hours" was a bit of verbal hyperbole.  They were here inside of 15 minutes, but it took some time to get water on the fire as it was at the base of a high stone wall and could only be accessed from above.

Getting my new laptop set up. Mostly complete...a couple peripherals to get working but not a big rush with them.

I just (as in five minutes ago) finished editing and uploading the last assignment for a course that was driving me absolutely crazy. I also had a Greek exam this morning and I have an Intermediate Latin exam tomorrow afternoon, so I'm going to the mall to Not $%#&!! Study for a while.

I just (as in five minutes ago) finished editing and uploading the last assignment for a course that was driving me absolutely crazy.  I also had a Greek exam this morning and I have an Intermediate Latin exam tomorrow afternoon, so I'm going to the mall to Not $%#&!! Study for a while.

I don't miss those days. One thing stands out in particular. I always looked at the final exam schedule, to ensure that I didn't have two finals on the same day. One year, I missed that little item, and had a physics Electricity and Magnetism final followed by a math Linear Algebra final. As my smoking brain was spooling down, I was accosted by some guy walking around campus selling life insurance.   Dude, it's Finals Week, we're all ready to lobotomize ourselves with slide rules and Bic pens from the stress. Bad timing!

So far, in my journey with my new iPad, it looks like the only things that didn't make it in the transition are some apps that weren't even supported by Apple anymore, and my collection of ebooks. At least I can just get them back some other way. And despite my fears, it looks like my main wall-wart can successfully power it (the amperage is different and the cord it came with is Lightning-to-USB-C).

Plus, apparently, Anglotopia's pivoting towards more evergreen content, so I'm probably going to just cover deep dives on British music and films and not news stories.
