Is killing a Pastor always a bad thing?

I'd have to say yes....if the authorities would not act.

This, unfortunately, is part of the problem. It's certainly an outrage, but to imply that such travesties are against the spirit of Christianity is abjectly false. It's a direct command from God to Moses. It's one of the rules they are supposed to follow. Why should it shock us when, occasionally, some of them do?

The blame ultimately rests upon the belief system which officially sanctions such atrocities.

In the US, at least, prison is a good punishment for those who abuse children, as there appears to be honesty among thieves. I'm pretty sure the average citizens of any prison would be delighted to have this guy convicted and amongst them for some re-education.

Although it is wrong, wrong, WRONG to delight in the rape and abuse of any human being. I keep telling myself that.

Quote:Pastors were involved in half of 200 cases of "witch children" reviewed by the AP, and 13 churches were named in the case files.

This possibly means that the other half is being done without religious supervision. If You kill the pastor, the exorcisms will not end.

What You need is a massive intervention, police or military scouting the area for troubling signs.

Maybe even some new residents.

The other important thing to note is that it's always a tragedy after the fact, it's always so sad, not a reflection of True Christianity... but the religion itself never seems to go beyond platitudes regarding it.

This is a religion in which large swathes will lobby against gay marriage, spend countless dollars trying to stop abortion, will fucking go to court over putting creationism in classrooms, or goddamn prayer, and yet this stuff, fucking child killings, doesn't raise any more than sound bites.

When was the last time you heard of someone in an official church capacity attempting to organize outreach efforts for these kids, or an education program for pastors not to do this stuff, since apparently it's so far away from the true spirit of the lord? We hear plenty of stories of gay church-goers getting kicked out just for being gay, but the pastors that burn children with acid... nobody is going to make any effort to correct his misunderstanding of the lord?

These people are taking Christianity and making it into what they want, they do not understand the OT and, that's why I keep harping on people need to study scripture and come to understand what the entire Bible is teaching. If an ol' southern boy can be taught by God what His purpose was and is, then I do not see why anyone else can't be the same. My interpretation of scriptures is a man trying to tell people about who God is, however as long as I listen to God and tell people what He teaches, then God is speaking to them through me. If a Christian can not find great satisfaction in God choosing them to present Himself to others, well I question why they want to be a Christian.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Interesting question - why is God failing so appallingly in these cases?

Get off your high horse, chumpsworth. You're not the slightest shred better than they are.

Catholics generally seem more worried about contraception than child rapists.

As a father myself, I say kill each and every priest that is directly responsible for the torture or death of a child. And then beat the living bejesus out of the parents who let it happen.

That's exactly my problem: these haughty fuckers are happy to snaffle up every moral thing humanity does, to turn themselves into this bastion of good things, but the moment some actual action needs to happen, it's down to secular organizations and governments to clean up their shit.

I think it's partly trying to avoid drawing undue attention to this stuff- because image is more important than the health and wellbeing of humans, after all- and part of it is how this fits into their agenda: they can rely on the real good people to deal with the outright lawbreaking, so they focus on abortion and gay marriage and all that other weird, parochial bullshit that is only to the benefit of extending their control, and won't be forced upon people otherwise.

This is the morality of mercenaries, people.
