I've had pet parrots before, amazingly intelligent birds.

If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71.

I have several birds, including a parrot- and I am a huge birder and bird fan.

Here's my favorite youtube bird (he's so unbelievable that many people think he's not real, but he is- he went on the Today show to prove it). He has about 100 videos on his youtube channel.

I present to you Disco, the world's most awesome budgie:

And the world's worst singing parrot: Boozle

Those were hilarious. Birds are so interesting. Did you know the closest living relative to the T-Rex is a chicken??? Not sure if it's true, I'm watching educational cartoons with my son this morning, and a paleontologist was on the show talking about it. Fun fact of the day!

That was based on a protein homology study, and it does appear to be true. Birds are living dinosaurs.

If you liked Disco, go to his channel- he's got lots of current videos. He's currently learning to say "Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper" and "Ice ice baby." His mashups of all his phrases are hysterical.

Too bad that this little birdie isn't with us anymore, but she was awesome Smile
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

EINSTEIN DIED? Oh, no. Alex, my favorite African Grey parrotAlex, my favorite African Grey, died several years ago, too. He was fricking amazing, not just a mimic.

I am sitting at my computer with my parot on my lap (she's a lap bird)... except she just climbed onto my shoulder and is now doing my favorite"beak to cheek" routine.

Before we got a parrot, we read a book that said that having a parrot is like having a tiny dragon, which sounds really cool if you don't think about it too hard. It IS like that, but I'm going to add to it:

It's like having a perpetual two-year-old with a can opener for a face.
