I'm sure she would be honored.

She certainly should be but she has her heart set on living forever.

When she finds out how, this inquiring mind would like to know.

I keep telling her compost is the way to go. By leaving our bio-remains behind to be incorporated into new creatures we have every expectation of continued life.

I forget. Does anyone here live in the San Diego area?

I live in the city limits, in the district of Hillcrest. Not too far from Balboa Park.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillcrest,_San_Diego

I was born about a mile from my condo, at scripps Mercy.

Truth be told, I like it a bit cooler than San Diego generally gets. 55-65 all year would be fine. Also, I've seen more homeless here than in L.A. or NYC.

But I do love my little district, which has its own "Town Council", which is a monthly meeting that brings in government heads and others. This past week, I met our interim mayor, who is also our district city councillor. Great guy.

I also like our harbor quite a bit. I'm a transport nerd, so I like it that the ship terminal, airport, and train station are all in one area.

Coronado, Ca., is quite nice as well. I used to have reason to go every year because my grandparents always stayed at the Hotel Del Coronado.

I haven't gotten through this thread, yet, so I'm sure I'll join with more.

I also like it a little cooler, so I'm quite content in Berkeley. But I lived in San Diego from my earliest memories through 7th grade. We lived in navy housing in Linda Vista. Spent a lot of time exploring the local canyons which have mostly become roads and freeways. I remember going on fieldtrips in elementary school to the museums in Balboa park and to the mission on the hill. Lots of good memories.

I asked the owner if he had a start of it anywhere but all he had was this one, the mother plant. Then he went back picked up a cutting he had made of it and gave it to me for free. Here is another photo of it showing its hairy fringe, and another showing a fly looking for the dead thing to lay its eggs on. I'm told flies do get fooled regularly into laying their eggs on the flower.

Oh, if any of you reside in city limits, VOTE! It's TOMORROW! Turnout is expected at only 40% if that.

It's the best city I've been in America...well if I were to be technical, Coronado (which is across from Downtown San Diego) is the best city.

The World's Fair was so important that it ended up staying pretty much indefinitively...that's how Balboa Park came about.

So for being such a Republican area, it's not bad at all.

Only issue is the ocean temperature is only tolerable for a few months of the year.

Dude... I live here and it's only tolerable to me a few DAYS of the year. I wear my wet suit if I'm gonna be in the water for more than a few minutes.

It's good for me May to August. You just have to give it a few minutes for your body to get used to the 60-65 degree temperature.
