In non-drug related news, my fine bitches (Heidi and the Mrs) and I took a walk yesterday afternoon up at Chabot Regional park. (Hey, that's less than 24 hours ago!) All of the photos were shit but these two were somewhat less shitty than the others.

I keep her on leash while we're on the trails where bikes are allowed. She thinks running them down, getting in front of them and making them stop is required despite my protests. She gets to walk off leash on most of this walk and last night she got to run around with another female herder and then later with a pack of three dogs. I should shoot more videos of her playing she is so agile.

He looks like a very happy little guy. I hope his expense was all in the original cost and not in vet bills. I've known a couple of mini-wieners that friends have had. They are a lot of fun and I think their backs have a better chance of surviving than their larger relatives. Though all seem to come with warnings to avoid jumping, something that is a hoot to see.

Oh. I assumed you lived on the side world. Amazing how gravity works fine no matter what side you live on. But we are so fortunate here to be on top of the world.

That is some mighty pretty scenery you got there. We've got a crick on the northern edge of our lot but it is never this big, else we'd have to rename it a river.

He is a happy little guy for the most part... but he's recently developed some strange affliction of the respiratory system. He's sneezing and fussing with his nose constantly. I thought he had sniffed something up his snout, but no, nothing as easily solved as that. So anesthesia, scoping, irrigating, cell samples, analysis of same, teeth cleaning (an annual event), steroids... and we're still no closer to knowing what's going on than before. Best guess is a recently-developed allergy to something in the house -- but I've changed nothing. Makes it hard to drill down on what's causing the problem.

As for the back issues, they are a real problem with this breed. I carefully monitor his weight, and he's also trained to wait to be lifted up and down off of furniture -- although he is perfectly capable of jumping wherever he likes. Such a good little boy, he just waits. I hope we can get to the bottom of his respiratory issues soon.

Glad to hear he is patient about getting up and down on furniture. They can really look like little missiles flying around a room.

As someone who adores the mechanics of structural integrity, I hate to look at dachshunds. I mean, how long will it be until it buckles in the middle?
