How do you get from "beginning of the universe" to christianity?

How do you get from "beginning of the universe" to christianity?
I've talked to a few christians recently, and they both went with "Where did it all come from?". I forgot to ask them, even if I grant that it had to be a deity, that only gets you as far as deism. Judaism, the religion that christianity is based on, was not the first religion. It didn't even have the first creation story.

Let's say we go with the popular "there had to be a beginning", and even say that Yahweh didn't need one. What now? How do we get from there picking Yahweh as the right one? Why not hinduism, possibly the oldest religion out there? Or the Babylonian religion?

The reply that one of these brain-farters will come up with will go something along the lines of " all these other gods are phony so it HAD to be yhwh."

Dealing with theists gets so predictable after a while.

How do you get from basic elements to organic chemistry? It's a long road, but you know you are on the right path if you love God and your neighbor as yourself. Any religion that allows you to grow in those two loves is the right one.

That doesn't really answer the question.

You really can't. As I noted in a thread I made on the topic, even if all the philosophical arguments were perfect to a T, there's no way (or it hasn't been done at least) of moving on to saying a particular religion is therefore true. The Historical Argument is a non-starter to begin with, and the Argument from Religious Experience is just as usable by almost any kind of theist.

To quote the YouTube user "DarkAntics" (the alt account of "Darkmatter2525"):

"Theists. Stop trying to defend this book and your arguments for the existence of a god are much better."
"The reason things will never get better is because people keep electing these rich cocksuckers who don't give a shit about you."

Yes, and the devotees of all of the religions claim that theirs does that. We haven't moved a single step.

No. That just means all who follow their religion with love and charity are moving in the right direction.

No. That just means all who follow their religion with love and charity are moving in the right direction.

And each right direction claims the other right directions are wrong directions.

In fact Christianity clearly states that worship of other gods is not allowed.

Not to mention being a complete non-sequitur.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
