Greeks self-inject HIV to claim benefits

Greeks self-inject HIV to claim benefits
http://www.aljazeera.com/news/europe/201...19888.html

Quote:A growing number of Greek residents have injected themselves with HIV so they can claim about $950 in monthly health benefits, according to a report commissioned by the World Health Organisation.

The report, Review of social determinants and the health divide in the WHO European Region, found cases of self-inflicted HIV infections in Greece, as the population continues to grapple with a deeply troubled economy.

The country's suicide rate has also skyrocketed, while healthcare access has declined.
[...]
the report relies in part on an article in the medical journal Lancet, which references "accounts of deliberate self-infection by a few individuals to obtain access to benefits of €700 per month and faster admission onto drug substitution programmes."

I guess a country's future is going down the drain...
And a few others in Europe are to follow suit...
The fault, as always falls on stupid politicians.... who are not so stupid seeing as they don't even go to trial for this mass murdering...

HAHA, right after that...

http://rt.com/news/who-apologize-greece-hiv-331/

Quote:The WHO has mistakenly over exaggerated the data in its recent report on Greece, stating that half of new HIV cases are self-inflicted to receive benefits. The organization has apologized saying it was due to an editing error.

“The sentence should read: ‘half of the new HIV cases are self-injecting and out of them few are deliberately inflicting the virus’,” the WHO (World Health Organization) said in its correction.

There are bound to be some people who abuse a good system, though injecting yourself with an incurable disease seems a bit much. How much of that $950 are they really going to enjoy when they have to spend a bunch on medicines and such to live with HIV?

Good video to watch, if you want to know how common the Jesus story really is.

It seems that's preferable to dying of starvation...

Don't know if I should burst into laughter and strike up a Janissary band song at this. But that's what I'm doing right now!

Greece has a National Health Service, so they won't have to pay the full cost of the medication.

Even in my state in the US, someone with HIV can get all their meds paid for. I know someone with HIV and they never pay anything at the pharmacy, and until recently they did not even have to pay for health insurance (now they have to pay a little bit of money each month).
