Any Vegetarians/Vegans here?

RE: Any Vegetarians/Vegans here?
I eat primarily vegetarian food which I prepare. If I do eat meat it's only once a week and only chicken or fish. I don't eat any red meat.

Shit like "vegan bacon" really annoy me. If you want bacon, eat bacon. Why deprive yourself of food you want to eat? I don't eat that crap because the very fact that it's got a vaguely meaty texture and taste puts me off.

The popularity of Quorn has made it really difficult to find decent veggie stuff in shops here, because many stores have taken away their old veggie products and stocked up on Quorn. I hardly know any vegetarians who even bloody like Quorn. It's mostly eaten by omnitarians who want to cut down on the amount of meat they eat for health reasons and Quorn is an easy way to do that. Booo.

This reminds me, I need to add tofu to my shopping list for tonight. Yummy yummy tofu. :D

Except you're perfectly fine with killing dogs that don't have to be killed. Hypocrite much?

I am fine with the euthanasia of dogs that are too ill to be rehomed or can never be rehomed due to behavioral issues. Ideally there would be enough resources and space to keep every dog who is healthy alive and happy -but there isn't.

Not hypocritical in the slightest. i am bothered about suffering not about death. I vastly prefer meat eaters hunting and killing a deer with a single bullet to the head than the horror of factory farming.

No, we don't do head shots. Too difficult and too likely to only wound the deer.

The preferred shot is below the front shoulder to try for a quick, humane heart/lung shot.

I am neither vegan nor vegetarian myself, but I have a lot of them in my circle of friends, thus I have had to on occasion cook/bake with only vegan ingredients. It's fun and a way to experiment with (to me) uncommon produce and recipes Smile
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I make a great "burger" patty out of organic ingredients.

Pearled Barley
Brown Rice Flour
Onions
Tomatoes
Mushrooms
Seasonings

It's not meat, but it holds up to a good grilling and it tastes great.

I eat meat, but only if I raise it/harvest it. The beef in my freezer came from my own pasture, grass fed only. The cattle have wonderful days except one, when there is a "What the -- " moment.

I raise my own pigs, trade some for lamb. I'd slaughter and butcher my own, except I'm not nearly as skilled as the home kill guy who does it for a living. On slaughter day, the animals are segregated into a separate pasture, killed very quickly and humanely with his .22 rifle (yes, even the cattle), skinned, quartered and hanging in his refrigerated truck in under an hour. I know this because I watch the entire operation.

I harvest my own turkeys and slaughter my own chickens. No one suffers, and they all live pleasant, pastoral lives. Chickens lay eggs. I eat them.

I'm not a venison fan (more's the pity, for all the damn deer around here), but I'll trade beef or pork for elk.

I live in close proximity to the ocean and rivers for trout, salmon, halibut and crab.

Am I a hypocrite, too?

I support your choice to be vegan, but not all meat eaters disregard where their food comes from or how it is raised.
