is there anyone else who has beliefs that are both conservative and liberal?
whenever I come on to forums, this forum, christian forums, mustang forums, etc

the majority of the people on each forum pretty much all agree on the same beliefs.

ie: the liberals on christian forum are pro choice, pro lgbt, etc

where as the consies are all pro guns, pro life, etc

but i seem to like not align 100% with either group, though I guess im more liberal. it seems liberal Christians believe more in 'the free will concept' rather than conservative Christians, but im anything but conservative christian, yet i do not believe in free will.

so what should i do? because in the liberal section of CF they all pretty much have the same beliefs and they also got a moderate section, but even most of those people believe in the same things, and im way more liberal than moderate. so i hang out in liberal section but i feel like im the only one in the planet who believes the things i do which is very frustrating.

an example here, even though there's no 'official criteria' for atheism, almost everyone here i talk to is against 'alternative medicine' and is a skeptic and doesn't believe in an afterlife....although i hear the only req to be atheist is not believe in god, but seems like still people carry similar beliefs with their groups.

so do u think there are people out there like me with same beliefs? what would you call it?

what are all the beliefs and stances? basically out of all the ones i know:

im pro choice
im ok with gay people
i dont like guns
i like big government
i dont like the jail system
i like conservative clothes
i dont like tattoos and piercings
i dont like drugs
i like socialized healthcare

what else is there?

as far as religious stuff, i do kinda believe in a god but not really any religon ones, and i do believe in heaven and stuff but not necessarily christian ones.

You seem to have a fixation with finding people who think exactly the way you do to hang out with/converse with, leodeo. What's up with that?

You are probably just seeing people talking about shared beliefs, not necessarily the fact that they all think the same thing about everything. Plus, you tend to get a lot of homogeneity on discussion forums because they are set up for people that share a value or general interest or belief (or lack thereof), and a lot of times those beliefs have tenets that are generally shared.

There are lots of political moderates in the world. It's just that a lot of the time, moderates aren't as motivated to get on a discussion forum and talk about it. I, for one, am as socially liberal as you can get, but fiscally I'm more conservative.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Only sheep conform 100% with whatever the ideology of group they identify with.

I consider myself progressive politically, but I am pro gun (with regulations and full background checks).

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

I have some conservative beliefs, but I'm fairly liberal. I don't think someone should get an abortion unless their life is in danger, but I don't like how the right has neglected things like foster care, sex education, and such.

I'm pro gun, despite not actually having one. Honestly I think a small bat would probably be better home defense. You don't need to take classes on proper bat safety, though you should still probably keep it out of easy reach of children.

I'm anti illegal immigration, though I think it should be easier for people to get across legally.

I'm a mix, myself. I am an Independent, but have never been able to vote for a Republican, except, maybe, for some arcane office like treasurer or something. The thing is, my fixation on LGBT equality alone solidly puts me in the Democrat camp, or so it seems. I am also pro-abortion rights.

I am anti-affirmative action
pro-gun rights for the able-bodied
against illegal immigration (however, I don't even know what the laws in this country are with regard to immigration. So it's more that I just don't like seeing reasonable laws broken. If said laws aren't reasonable, change them.)
I think the ADA definitely needs to be taken down a notch. A small business person should never have to feel like he needs to make things perfectly accessible--- up to, and including, hiring practices---or face bankruptcy. Disability law is an industry in and of itself, and is causing problems in the USA.
I am in favor of tort reform (see above), but that is such a broad issue. I'm not sure all of what needs done.
I am in favor of research into global warming, and the drafting of laws to reverse or prevent it.
I am in favor of free healthcare, fire service, and ambulance, and that all tiers of government should have a hand in it.
I am in favor of a living pension for those with mobility impairments, immediately adjusted to reflect work status at the time.
I am in favor of the death penalty on a case by case basis. The only offenses subject to it would be murder and rape. The method in all jurisdictions should be a single gunshot to the head.

I believe in the death penalty too, and that execution could just be a simple gunshot to the head. However, I believe we should use it as a last resort against people who are clearly socio/psychopathic. Just because someone killed one person that they hate doesn't mean they should die, as long as they can be convinced to genuinely regret doing it. However I do believe there are cases when someone should just be put down.

I think of myself as a libertarian...I like the "live and let live" motto, and I want a smaller, less invasive government. There are several political "quizzes" online, although I'm not sure how reliable they are, but they can give you some things to look into on your own. Here are three quizzes http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz/quiz.php http://www.people-press.org/typology/quiz/ http://www.politicalcompass.org/test

I'm against the death penalty for one reason, and one reason only, we seem to keep convicting people that are not guilty of what they are being convicted for.

If we could fix that then let the heads roll.
