You're missing the point, ronedee. The whole point of this thread.

What? "straining on a gnat, and swallowing a camel"? Look I didn't read every post in this thread... only the OP....but:

There is more reason to believe the Gospel, just because of its small discrepancies!

If every account therein were exact, what meaning would it have on a personal level? We all see things differently, depending on our state of being at that time! That's the purpose of garnering as many witnesses as possible to get a complete account!

I can't believe I'm needing to explain all this!! Is this a slow news day?

The message is the POINT! Period

Who wrote the gospels??

The message "IS" the POINT! Period

If every account therein were exact, then we could say it was inerrant and infer that it was thus "the word of God" rather than reports by fallible men of remarkable events.

If they're not, we can't.

That's a big Bastard of a gnat. God doesn't / wouldn't make mistakes.

And yes people, I know there are bigger and more significant contradictions, but none so clear.

Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken."

The Real Truth? I have no idea. I only have the accounts of others! And the Holy Spirit.

Look Jake... I see your point! But, its not a good one in the grand picture. Its not a deal-breaker. At least for the believer. And even maybe the agnostic.

When "humans" are involved? EVERYTHING is suspect.

The bible is a guide book... for me anyway! The Holy Spirit has filled in the blanks.

As the bible says: "Faith is needed before true understanding is given."

So there is your paradox! You don't have Faith. So, true understanding escapes you, as well as all in that state of being.

So, since you believe stories built on hearsay and fables, do you believe Muhammad to be the "final prophet" sent by God? This is what Islam teaches, and Islam has an entirely different view of Jesus than Christians.

So, what would you tell a Muslim?

All religions can't be "right."
