Alternative Medicine (Hint: This is NOT really medicine)

The only good thing I can say about alternative medicine practitioners, are that they usually make enough time for their patients and listen to them. That's something harried medicine professionals should remember. If you meet your patience while stressed and make it obvious that you don't have time for them, I can assure you that the whole treatment/healing process won't work half as well.

Well, having known some of the people who go to medical professionals for every goddamn cough because they (the people) are dumb shits, I know why they end up being busy.

Some people have no concept of preventative treatments, or maybe just giving their kids a little cough syrup and seeing if it clears up instead of assuming it's pneumonia.

I don't think enough people understand 'First Aid' or understand anything about their own bodies, for all the many years they have spent with them.

Hey, I'm Red Cross certified for both infants and children. Not adults though. I took the class so that I could say I'm a Red Cross certified babysitter. Nobody hired me to babysit, though.

Same here. Had to get certified for a number of jobs / courses I have done. I really do think it should be offered to high school students; maybe some where in the biology class?

Unfortunately, at least where I've worked, there always seems to be a shortage of medical professionals.

Where I am at the moment, there's a definite shortage as many young doctors and nurses jump the pond and go to Australia.

But I can tell you from experience that as soon as there's even a whisper of a new 'flu strain people stream in for the slightest throat tickle or cough. You try to give as much time to patients - I've yet to encounter a Dr. House like attitude to them - but when you look out of the door and see 50 people waiting for you, all with the same - usually - minor symptons that are easily treatable with a day or two in bed or something similar - it really does get you down.

Minor symptoms are what WebMD is for. Or you could try the alternative medicine route and like, put a crystal on it or something.

And you can always do it wrong. Because cancer comes up no matter what symptoms you put in. Coughing? You could have CANCER!

I'll be honest. I haven't looked at WebMD.

But that doesn't surprise. Luckily, it's almost never Lupus.
