But in the last 3 years I've been keenly interested in studying religion and how it affects societies on a global scale.

You're absolutely right. We are all born atheists in the most literal sense of the word.

In fact, this realization dawned upon me after a long journey of suffering from a sense of disturbed belonging.

But specifically, it happened in 2012. It was not a quick fix sort of a thing. But rather, an excruciatingly painful process of reading and fighting with my social environment, and my own self doubts.

And to be honest, atheism was sort of forced upon me after all I saw in Syria...
