So... was there like some kind of mass hemorrhaging wound of member out-of-forum seepage after I got here? Thinking

I know, right!? I'd have been all sorts of up and dramatic about it! THE SKY IS FALLIN, DAMMIT! WHAT NEXT: RELIGION? OFF-TOPIC?!

... I was all sorts of confused when the comment thread was *barren* 0.o

[Didn't understand.] Talk slowly and loudly as if to an older person.

I hardly ever comment in an introduction thread. Therefore, I am safe.

Recently there was a thread "wondering about religion in America". I wouldn't have recognized this as an introduction. If someone obnoxious posts here with no clue in the title or first paragraph, it might be more appropriate to move the thread than to hand out an automatic penalty to anyone who gets drawn in.

That's it. Not a big concern really.

Alternately, there's the new member who comes right out of the gate pulling veiled threats and insults in the introduction forum... so this needs a notation of their inclusion in the fine print.

Well... 'needs' is perhaps a bit too strong Dodgy

You're lucky I added "member" and "out of forum" to that. I kind of figured they were unnecessary. Big Grin Even 'seepage'... but that was like... the first afterthought.

It doesn't even affect me. It's not like I ever make hostile posts anyways. Sleepy

I hardly ever fly on planes, and I'm about the least threatening person I know. Therefore, I am safe... or so I told myself.

That trip was awful. So awful I might well not be flying again for a few years. So... unbelievably... ridiculously... stupidly... uncomfortable, awkward, and I kind of laughed at how completely inept the travel anti-terror nonsense was before this...

Now I am utterly disgusted at the whole shebang.

I was chastised for making an obvious joke. I feel the enforcement is a bit overzealous. I can go back a check but I remember not getting a very warm reception.

I don't remember your own entry so clearly but I do somewhat remember an introduction thread on which you got some grief for making what seemed to me an innocuous joke. I just have to trust that if mods think this needs to be treated on a surface level, then it is necessary for their clarity and convenience in enforcing the rules. In the best of all possible worlds more subtlety would be welcome, but then in that world rules enforcement would pay better than it does currently. I'm not going to complain about the policy choices our fine volunteers make unless it compromises something essential.

I wouldn't complain, because I just don't care enough to actually get upset about it. I will say I find it silly sometimes. It's like this is recess and the mods are the whistle ladies :p
I don't know how to run a forum so just let them do their thing. It's not that big of a deal. Just the one section. If it bothers you just don't post in the introduction threads.
