News that U.S. cosmologists might be on the the verge of confirming that they have detected ‘primordial gravitational waves‘, supporting the big bang theory, has led some Southern Baptist scientists to cite such a discovery as more evidence of a divine creator.

Trying to shoehorn their fucking god in at the beginning in order to pretend that it has some relevance in the modern world.

I was excited when I saw your thread title, but I don't see this as throwing in the towel. I see this as an example of the mental gymnastics that are simply required in order for one to maintain "faith" in any religion whatsoever.

As usual, "Christian scientists" weighing in on a new discovery involves a quote from a guy who is not, in fact, a scientist -- unless "scientist" can mean senior fellow shit stain at the Discovery Institute and associate professor of the history/philosophy of science.

As of press time, the teeming army of Southern Baptist physicists and cosmologists were too busy contributing to this remarkable discovery to issue press statements. Their sad god of the gaps argument is expected in due course.
