This should be taught in every school..

RE: This should be taught in every school..
Life is not fair - get used to it!

Is that what he said to the Woz and Jobs when he took their product concept?

Or wait, anti-trust lawsuit?

What I don't want taught in school is whatever that snake has to say. His business ethics leave a lot to be expected, and his philanthropy borders on the dangerous and bizarre. But hey, he is the richest person they let us know about, so he's cool in my books!

THEY told us you would say that Pippy. THEY have THEIR eye on you! When the level and the chisel come together in the year of Nog only then will the yerb of cotrane "know" that the time of "dancing" will come for the "campers" and the little fingers will reach out for the tiny bubbles.

Yes, that's what he's saying and IMO it's true, both for your country and for mine.

Quote:We are not ... subject to the Queen or the any dictators or foreign rulers.
You imply that our Queen is on the same level as 'the any dictators or foreign rulers.' I'm afraid that is a very uninformed travesty of the situation in my country.

Quote:We are not a common wealth...
That's precisely what the USA is. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

Clearly a reference to how we won our independence and are not ruled by any foreign nation. We are not a common wealth or subject to the Queen or the any dictators or foreign rulers. We are the United States of America and our primary language is English and we have our soldiers to thank for those things. Soldiers are credited with giving us all of the freedoms we enjoy today at the price of life and blood.

For very many people in originally non English speaking countries too I fear.

'Thank' is never what comes to mind. Sadness at the futility yeah.

Love him or hate him , he sure hits the nail on the head with this!

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault , so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

If you agree, pass it on.
If you don't agree stick your head in the sand and take a deep breath!

If you can read this -Thank a teacher! If you can read this in English thank a soldier!!!

Aphorisms are fun and can be very useful, especially if you're too lazy or stupid to think for yourself.

These came from the richest man in the world? I guess that makes them right.Angel Cloud

Back in the 1970's the new-age teachers noticed that clever children had high self-esteem and this led to the practice of not correcting children's school work - don't tell them they spelt the word incorrectly; praise them for making an effort - that would raise their self-esteem and encourage them to learn.

Trouble is, the new-agers got it backwards. The nerds didn't become clever because they had high self-esteem; they had high self-esteem because they were clever.

Another problem is that the observations are anecdotal and not based on evidence.Apart from the fact that few teachers are qualified to make such an assessment.

The teacher's perception is no more than the old nature/nurture dichotomy, which remains far from resolved.

Even if the observations were correct, the reasoning is flawed, conflating correlation with causation. The same erroneous reasoning is often used trying to a make a causal connection between intellect and atheism.

When I was in school....admittedly before the 1970's....the nerds used to get beat up on the playground all the time. That can wreck your self-esteem a lot quicker than a poor grade.

@ fr0d0: I was not condoning the actions of this nations founders I was just trying to explain why that last line stated what it did in answer to someone asking why it was there. I am not patriotic and do agree that this country is nothing more than a giant bully. A thief of lands and natural resources and power hungry like no other. Taking everything that they desire by any means necessary.
There is nothing people will not maintain when they are slaves to superstition
