who was Muhammed?

RE: who was Muhammed?
Just watching the video now which confirms my stand on all religions. They are always built on prior mythology and social norms. It is no different than Coke competing with Pepsi.

One thing I disagree with that guy on is that the other two religions teach brotherhood and equality. No no no no no, THE OT god of the Hebrews was a tribal god as well. The Christian Jesus at best could be argued to say "treat them like pets", but the tribal divisions are inherent in all of them even if you want to say that Islam is much more intolerant at it's core. You are still talking about the same God of all three that are the absolute authority over humans. Less tolerant vs more tolerant still misses the point that once you start claiming a godfather character as your leader, you set yourself up for division.

People seem to be ignorant of the fact that the age of consent was seven (7) in Delaware State in 1895. So you can bet that a lot of their ancestors were pedophiles. I wouldn't be surprised if most, if not all, of the American slave owners were pedophiles as well.

- There are 90 verses in the Koran which say that Mohammed is the perfect role model, for all Muslims, for all time.

- Mohammed committed an act of violence on the average of every 6 weeks for the last 9 years of his life.

- 80% of Mohammed's biography is devoted to war and harm to kafirs (non-Muslims) e.g.

"In Medina, Mohammed sat all day long beside his 12-year-old wife while they watched as the heads of 800 Jews were removed by sword. Their heads were cut off because they had said that Mohammed was not the prophet of Allah."

I just find it contradictory that some Atheists are saying he probably didn't exist and others are taking disputed events as historical facts (like the age of Aisha when she got married).

Why do you find it contradictory that some Atheists believe one thing over another? Very odd.

The Qu'ran clearly states that Aisha was married at 6, but she lived with her parents until the marriage was consumated when she was 9.

He was a paedophile, a war mongering, psychopathic paedophile. Which explains a lot when delving into the actions of his modern day followers.

Whether he existed or not I doubt we will ever know, to be honest, it's a bit of a moot point.

RE: who was Muhammed?
It is far from certain, ol'Mo even existed. We can certainly criticize, the *alleged* properties of a possibly fictional character as readily as a real person. Why does this even need to be spelled out?

Just as we can criticize Darth Vader's parenting skills, we can show ol'Mo is far from a good role model for modern humans. Warlord, murderer, torturer, child fucker, etc.

http://www.frontpagemag.com/2012/fjordma...existence/

Notice, the earliest biography of Mo is around 100 years after his alleged warlording and debauchery.

Quote:As Jansen states, “An Iraqi scholar, Ibn Ishaq (c. 760), wrote a book that is the basis of all biographies of Muhammad. No biographical sketches of Muhammad exist that do not depend on Ibn Ishaq. If an analysis of Ibn Ishaq’s book establishes that for whatever reason it cannot be seen as an historical source, all knowledge we possess about Muhammad evaporates. When Ibn Ishaq’s much-quoted and popular book turns out to be nothing but pious fiction, we will have to accept that it is not likely we will ever discover the truth about Muhammad.”

Moreover, a fully developed Arabic script did not yet exist at the time when the Koran was supposedly collected for the first time, which further introduces substantial sources of error. The Koran itself was probably far less stable and collected much later than Muslims believe.

Finally, the hadith collections which elaborate upon the personal example of Muhammad were developed many generations after the alleged events of his life had taken place, and are considered partially unreliable even by Muslims. It is likely that a great deal of this material was fabricated outright in a process of political and cultural struggle long after the first conquests.

The great thing about Allah is that he really did seem to be fascinated by Mo's sex life, so there are oodles of stories and quotes in there, with amazing detail. Here are just a few from the first webpage I found, Google really is great, you should try it.

From the Hadith:

Here are a few, but there is a link at the bottom:

Muslim (8:3309) - Muhammad consummated his marriage to Aisha when she was only nine. (See also Bukhari 58:234 and many other places). No where in the reliable Hadith or Sira is there any other age given.

Bukhari (62:18) - Aisha's father, Abu Bakr, wasn't on board at first, but Muhammad explained how the rules of their religion made it possible. This is similar to the way that present-day cult leaders manipulate their followers into similar concessions.

Muslim (8:3311) - The girl took her dolls with her to Muhammad's house (something to play with when the "prophet" was not having sex with her).

Bukhari (6:298) - Muhammad would take a bath with the little girl and fondle her.

Muslim (8:3460) - "Why didn't you marry a young girl so that you could sport with her and she sport with you, or you could amuse with her and she could amuse with you?" Muhammad posed this question to one of his followers who had married an "older woman" instead of opting to fondle a child.

“In the first two centuries of Islamic history, sīra was more commonly known as maghāzī (literally, stories of military expeditions) ...”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sirat_Rasul_Allah

That sums up Islam pretty well. Sira is the biography of Mohammad.
