What would it take for you to believe in God?

To me, the whole god concept is little more than a cipher. It's faces in the wallpaper, which someone still needs to tell you what to see. Left to make up your own impressions without any outside involvement and all you have is god claim #9999566734789893478. Why else do you think almost all theists have no other recourse than to hide inside their storybook?

Existence would be a good start. After that, compelling evidence. A better question, is why do otherwise intelligent people believe demonstrable horseshit? i.e., the story of Jesus, Yaweh and Friends? Odd species the human race.
