The youngest of my cats, really my wife's, is a very pious kitty, devoted to Ceiling Cat. Whenever he sees lights reflected onto the ceiling, he gets so excited, meows and raises his paws up to praise him. Or maybe he's just fascinated by reflected light but believing the former is more fun.

Bella, my friend Shell's cat, often does that sort of thing, when she's not chewing on my foot that is (the cat, not Shell ). She'll sit somewhere and stare randomly at the ceiling, looking for all the world like a Muppet with Frank Oz's hand in her. That's got to be proof of Ceiling Cat.
She likes chasing shadows on the wall as well, also bouncing off the window at the odd moth outside. She's one of the comedy cats.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Hey, where have you been? I've been thinking about you lately. So very sorry that atheism hasn't been much fun for you. Are you sure you can't make a subtler, Jungian/Campbell sort of god suffice? If not I hear your old god is nothing if not forgiving, well at least since he got over that shit fit in the OT.

I for sure sometimes feel like Cypher from the Matrix. I'd love to take pleasure in ignorance. Ignorance is Bliss is not a saying for nothing. Unfortunately I am too intelligent for that bliss. It would make life so simple, obey these strict easy to read laws and you'll be blessed forever. Then I realize how hollow that ignorance is and I realize how great it is to not be that ignorant.

There is a character in my favorite book series (The Dresden Files) who is a Knight of the Cross. He carries a sword that has a nail from the crusifiction worked into the steel. He and his two brethren are the fist of God on earth.
The way he takes comfort, and the way he is so sure and certain of his place in the world because of his faith is beautiful and inspiring.
Unfortunately for me, faith in a magic old guy who lives in the clouds that grants wishes is a no-go. Not to mention paying lip service to hypocritical, small minded, jack asses in the church is also a big fat non-starter.
Do you ever wish you could have faith in something? Humanity, even though it is pretty screwed up sometimes, still gives me real hope. But sometimes I feel a little empty.
Thoughts?
You sound like a person searching for the love he was always meant to have. God is the way. He is the light and spiritually, he is the only thing you will ever need. Don't use the church's many failures as an excuse to give up an eternity side by side with a Creator who loves you.
Yes, we have been known to be hypocritical and small minded, but many of us want only to save you from a place meant only for the devil and his vile demons.
You can be that knight. You can fight a spiritual fight for Jesus Christ. Maybe you could be the one to bring these wayward souls on this site to Him.
Stop trying to shoe horn God into your life and simply accept Him for the amazing deity He is!
Talk to me. I will try to answer as many questions as i can.
I got a question. Do you believe that Jesus is God, and that the trinity is Father, Son and Holy Spirit where the three are one (God)?

I feel sorry for you that you need your imagination in order to feel as loved as you apparently are.
I've got all the love I could ever want from my friends and family.

'Try'? I actively can. The bible is an incoherent mess and thus any attempt to defend it alway strays into the realm of interpretation and apologetics.
Your god commits omni-cide and you try and defend it as loving?
Yeah no thanks. Only a sucker would actively sign up to an abusive relationship.
Ok, whatever you think is your opinion, but the bible is fact, though you may not understand it, it still is, pretty mic everythig in the bible has been proven as factual history, and denying the bible is the same as denying Egypt as a civilization, or denying Jesus was ever an actual person
My heart weeps for the people on this site, so hateful, so lost, I hope when te rapture comes, and ten the 7 dy tribulation takes place you can see you error and be saved

The Bible says that the light of the moon is its own light. How is that fact? Did you ever open a science book? The light of the moon is a reflected light. Have you read your Bible? Even if you stick purely to symbolic events, Jesus doesn't even fulfill the sign of Jonah, after telling the Jews, you wicked and adulterous generation, thou seek for a sign? A miracle? NO SIGN shall be given to you but the sign of Jonah. And Jesus never fulfills that sign, so Jesus is? A liar.
I'm not even talking about moral issues here. If God created us, he can do what he wants to us, he can kill women, children etc. He made us, he can break us in any creative way that amuses him. The problem is that all scriptures are wrong, inaccurate, and all scientific facts point towards the absence of God, and the presence of an unaware process called creation, that proceeds by mindless iteration. It's like John has the password for his computer, he is a self-aware human being, he only enters his password once and it's correct. Creation is like a BruteForce hack that proceeds by iteration, trying billions of passwords until it finds the right one. Can you say Bruteforce is God? Can you?
The reason we are here is NOT because God made it right, it's because creation tried everything else, and we happen to be the right password. Look at planet Venus, Mercury? Do you know the surface temperature of Venus? Would you like to be there? Did God screw that one up? Wake up bro.

I can't wait to see you defend that laughable first sentence. Pretty much everything in the Bible has been proven as factual history? Really? Perhaps you can start by citing the archaeological evidence for the Exodus.
As for your second sentence, how should I put this? Oh yeah, go fuck yourself, you arrogant twit. Do you really think crocodile tears and condescension are the best ways to witness to atheists? Try evidence.
