These actually don't really fall under the topics that you cover as it's about current events, but by far the best documentaries currently being made are by Vice
http://www.vice.com/video They really show that the world is a more fucked up place than comfortable white people in the first world would like to think. Here is a good example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRuSS0iiFyo
I'm currently enjoying "The Inexplicable Universe with Neil deGrasse Tyson" on Netflix.
It's a series of lectures - nothing new for someone very familiar with the topic, but interesting and entertaining nonetheless.
For those with short attention spans (me most of the time) the "How It's Made" series is fantastic. Most segments run 6 or 7 minutes.
Even with my manufacturing and defense contractor background, it is absolutely amazing to me how much of all the stuff we buy is almost entirely made by machines. Feynman ftw!

One of Four. The Bible Unearthed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6bBeyaRjac Did Mohammed Exist, by Robert Spencer
Those PBS shows on King Tut and the Silver Pharaoh were fantastic.
The Civil War, Baseball, and Jazz by Ken Burns
The World at War by Jeremy Isaacs
Watched Prom Night in Mississippi last night.
Wow.
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.
