See, you can accept the idea of the small lie. Seems so natural.
So humanistic. This is just a matter of scale. The BIG lie is just an assemblage of smaller ones. There- that was easy wasn't it?
First show that there was a lie, in the face of all the evidence to the contrary. Then we can discuss conspiracies.

The government lies all the time. That's why I make up my own mind. I shot a laser at the moon in college. About 2.5 seconds later, our receptacle measured a return. We've been to the moon.

That figures - Hollywood. Can't get much cozier to the source of dis-information than that. After WW2 the name of the War Dept. was changed to "Defense Department" Sounds much more benign doesn't it? My generation was subject to the scam of the Vietnam war. This generation is subject to the scam of the war on terror. And how did it start? 911 Same story- different day. Same leadership. And that is how I shut up 9/11 truthers. 
You'll never get them to shut up. Can't be done. Logic slides right off. You'll just get a bunch of false dichotomy, as demonstrated by Prof.
Pointless to try. Worse than antivacc campaigners.
