I guess if there is any way to tell what machine I am using to log into the site at the moment it will probably show up as being Android.

That would be partially true. I am running Android Kitkat but on my PC in an emulator.

Its supposed to be very fast but for some reason it isn't and I am wondering why I just went through the whole install process.

I am kinda impressed that it works at all to be honest but I can't think of a single thing I can do with it now.

Using the ADB emulator? I tried it a while back when messing with my OUYA, it is pretty damn slow, even on a fast PC. Won't be playing any Android games on it, that's for sure.
