A key Senate committee on Wednesday approved a bill to bypass President Obama and approve the controversial Keystone XL oil pipeline.

Led by Sen. Mary Landrieu, Louisiana Democrat and an outspoken supporter of the Canada-to-Texas pipeline, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee approved the measure by a vote of 12 to 10.

But it remains unclear whether Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, will allow the bill to move to the full Senate floor.

Ms. Landrieu vowed Wednesday that she’ll pressure Mr. Reid to allow such a vote.

“I have pushed many bills through. Just get ready,” she said.
