yeah!!! HFCS is, at best, just as bad as standard sugar!! -.-'
As Coke Green cuts the sugar in half and avoids artificial sweeteners, seems like a step in the right direction.

Ah, ok. I was referring to the "real sugar" vs. corn syrup nonsense. I don't have problems with artificial sweetners either since to my knowledge all claims about their toxic effects have been pseudoscience.

RE: Green Coke
I've always wondered why diet pop of all varieties never attempts to emulate the viscosity of the sugared form of their beverage.

There is a definite change in the 'texture' if you will, from 12 ounces of liquid with 18 teaspoons of sugar in it to the diet variety with no dissolved hardly anything in it. In a food industry literally awash in various thickeners, I have never understood why no bottler has addressed the 'mouth feel' issue.

I think it's mostly because diet soda drinkers (usually) only drink diet soda and regular soda drinkers (usually) only drink regular soda so the "mouth feel" issue is mostly moot.

I can count the number of times on one hand that I've had non-diet soda in my life. Diet drinks are basically all I ever drink.

I don't drink much Diet Coke. I much prefer Diet Dr. Pepper. I like Coke Zero too.

I can drink diet tea, regular tea doesn't have viscosity much different from water. Never drank that much tea anyhow, not knowing what it is 'supposed' to taste like made all the difference. Having the real thing to compare to in regards to diet pop really ruins it for me.

Speaking of Green Coke. Coca Cola used to have a green color to it back in the day. Coca Cola once had coca leaves in it that gave you a nice buzz.

Absolutely true, but glass bottle Coke isn't impossible to obtain without setting foot in Mexico, that's why I was asking if there was anything to distinguish it further. Tongue

Quote:Second, Mexican Coke is made with real sugar rather than corn syrup. I don't know if the difference is real, or imagined, or due solely to the glass bottle, but it's good Coke.

That's what I wanted to hear: I think it's cool that I can visit other places and see even familiar, stalwart foods that are made slightly different.

It can be cool, no doubt about it. I have to admit, though, that the wasabi Kit Kat bar was (for me, anyroad) a complete failure.

Well, maybe not complete, as I took away the very valuable lesson that wasabi and choccy are not a good combination.

Me too. I only drink coke zero and now I find the others too sugary.

Nice thread, this one. So peaceful. :-)
