You are aware that Landover Baptist is a parody site, yes? Though I don't know the forum myself.

Flat! I didn't think people could be any more stupid. Do we have theists in this forum that still claim the world is flat?

Maybe we should invite NephilimFree, Conservapedia's centrefold boy, over here sometime? He's not a Flat-Earther, but he is a genuine geocentrist.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Yahweh's also not to fond of iron chariots either.

Judges 1:19 - And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

You want to see some world class mental gymnastics, watch them explain this one.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

That's also why God made outer space, as a protective shield between us and his home planet, Christov Seven, located about 37,000,000,000,000 miles away, even though it was sort of a botched wall that may prove to be penetrable.

The "iron" they talk about wasn't technically iron.
In reality it was "Kryptonite".

Ahh, I suppose I've been poed by poes. I didn't actually look at their site, but clicked on a link that directed me to a thread where I only read the first few comments about space, the moon being a light, earth being flat and NASA being a fake conspiracy.

The Tower of Babel story is about the Babylonian dispersal of the Jews. The God character in the story is the Babylonian Emperor. He didn't want the Jews to become too big for their tasseled robes so he expelled them from their traditional areas. The event makes a better story if it's fictionalized.

So god doesn't like tall buildings?

WTF

I haven't read the story, but I have heard it told. My understanding is some king built a tower to challenge God. God put the king and his people back in their place.

A bible thumper's explanations could be that planes, spaceships, modern towers, etc are not designed to challenge God(except for maybe the Titanic) which is why God leaves them alone.

Yes I heard it told in Sunday school and that's the way it was told. But that's not quite the way it reads. "Come let us build ourselves a city with a tower that reaches to the heavens so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered across the face of the whole earth."

And god responded: "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan will be impossible to them."
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

One wonders why that would bother a "god."

Sounds like a real pussy.
