A Knight Who Does Not Serve

A Knight Who Does Not Serve
Greetings everyone. I, like Rev. Rye, am a migrant from the CT Valley Atheists forum. I'm not sure how many others are here, but expect more members in the coming weeks.

So, who the hell am I? Devil

I'm an eighteen year old male living in one of the most secular regions of the United States. I was a Christian until about age 13. I called myself a Protestant, though to be honest I fluctuated between many different sects. I actually lost my faith while debating on a forum similar to this one (evilbible.com). Though I had been having my own doubts for a while that I was hoping to get cleared up, the unimaginable happened: I became an atheist. A few years before I had never even heard the term. The thought of not believing in God just did not occur to me. I suppose that is simply the result of childhood indoctrination. My mother and father got divorced when I was about six. Thankfully for me, I was raised mainly by my mother, who has always allowed me to think for myself. My father, on the other hand, still believes I'm a Christian. He talks negatively about nonbelievers all of the time, however, thus I'm not sure I will ever tell him.

I no longer consider myself an atheist, however, but instead I consider myself a theological noncognitivist. After being introduced to this philosophy a few months ago, I began to adopt it. It is still relatively new to me. In a very short summary, though, theological noncognitivists find "God" meaningless. Without an ontological proof, debate is futile.

That is where I stand with religion.

I am also very introverted, yet I still love making friends and meeting new people. I'm shy in real life, at least until we've known each other for a while. If you want to get to know me even more, PM me to add me as a friend on facebook. I will try to add my input to various topics as I have time. I have also neglected to mention that I am a very busy person. If I'm not doing school work, volunteering, in band, in choir, mentoring, or practicing, I'm either sleeping (7 or less hours per night) or planning my schedule. That's not entirely truthful...I do have some free time, like now...but sometimes it doesn't feel that way! Anyway, I am in my Senior year of high school and I am enjoying every moment.

Hello, knight.

Do everyone a favor and don't tell Anthony where you've come from.

Salve, Knight! I take it you've noticed I'm on the forums, too. I hope to see you more on these forums, and hopefully for Anthony and AM to not follow us.

Say that five times fast, kid, and you'll find out why "atheist" makes a better handle.

Well anthony (yes, his "a" is lower case...thus his name alone annoys me a bit) is a typical Christian who proclaims the high ground and shifts the burden of proof to the negative. The theological noncognitivist view does not even register with him. He is a fan of the cosmological argument, and even when this is countered he replies and declares victory prematurely.

AM = alexandermartin...he's actually fun every once in a while. He suffers from paranoia, though perhaps that's not entirely his fault.

Anyway, I'm sure this forum has it's own share of the "fun"-dies.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Hello Min & Rev. Rye!
