I perhaps lean a little towards a deist view of creation; that the destiny was present in the 'beginning'; that the starting conditions of the universe (or universes) were such that life would arise, intelligent life even. And from my perspective I would say that it was possible that it was inevitable that God-seeking and God-sensing life would arise. But I trust science to progressively reveal the mechanics of evolution.

Well then, we aren't going to have a problem on that front, welcome to the forum.

Welcome,

If you've ever had a conversation with jesus, god, the holy spook, or any other supernatural spirit, please start a thread and tell us about it. I'd be thrilled to know someone who has ever conversed two way with god.

RE: Hello
Welcome sir,

I'm happy (oh, so so very happy) to have a theist around whose actually been to science class. You'll be a fresh breath of air for a lot of us here. Not to mention.. I like to learn Smile hope you're here to learn (and hopefully teach) too.

*Looks at the cookies. Don't worry, that batch looks burnt but I think they're just really chocolaty.

Also, you share my brother's name! What do you know about the arch angel Michael?
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

By all means find the vaccination thread and weigh in.

I think I found the right thread and have added something (by chance I did a little work with Andy Wakefield in the past, at the time he was looking at the possible link between measles, measles vaccine, and Crohn's disease).

Here's what I added: http://atheistforums.org/thread-22331-po...#pid726492

A wise and informative response.

We don't often get theists join that I genuinely like owing to them usually wanting to bait and troll us. But you strike me as very different.

RE: Hello
Thank you Fidel. No, I'm not here to bait. I don't think atheism is daft. I find it interesting to hear what makes people go towards or away from theism (or atheism). And I'm interested in how our beliefs (or lack thereof) affect choices we make in our lives. So Im here hopefully for some good discussion and to see a little through the eye of others. For about 10 years I did consider myself an atheist, but I don't think I therefore understand how all atheists think, just as I don't understand how all theists think. We've all got our own reasons for our thoughts.
