Why I am so passionate about speaking out against feminism.

RE: Why I am so passionate about speaking out against feminism.
Another thing that would always get to me is when we would be discussing something to do with feminism and when I make a particular point, she would just call me sexist and a misogynist without actually explaining why or giving a relevant answer.

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House

“Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom

That term "misogynist" is thrown around a lot but often misused. Angry That said, she doesn't speak for all feminists. So, chalk it up to a bad encounter?

As I stated, yes she does not speak for all feminists, however sadly that ideology is being used to justify adverse behavior. Granted I believe in the long run realize she is only one psycho, internet is not known for its intelligence and logic thus tumblr feminists if you can call them that are just trolls.

But if it's extreme feminism you have an issue with, I think that's what you should have put in the thread title.

I don't have a problem with feminism. Overall feminism did a lot to redress the hidebound traditional social conventions which reduced the ability of women to take part in and contribute to modern economy and society. Feminism in my opinion has resulted in a much more balanced society than the ones which existed 75 or 100 years ago.

But any movement has its fringes and excesses. We would still be in the stone age if fringes and excesses are allowed to damn any movement boradly in the beneficial direction.

Could easily turn the mirror and point to the super-MRA "she was asking for it" types that rant about how women are all sluts and will do anything for attention. The loud few assholes are just that, loud and few.

Not directly related, but there's a study that 1 in 7 atheists are anti-religious, but our vocal minority has managed to give the impression that anti-religionists compose the majority of atheists.

@ Bad Wolf

Sounds like an awful experience from end to end. But she's hardly representative and clearly had some problems beyond extreme feminism. But I agree the word misogynist is thrown around by some feminists without cause, much like the way racist, antisemite, and communist are by various other extreme groups.

If I were you, I try to draw more lessons about spotting messed up woman than about feminists in particular. However, if a woman calls you a misogynist without explanation I drop her quickly if I were you.

Indeed she is.

This.

It's terrible what you and others have gone through but these people are not representative of the entire feminist movement, any more than the people who threatened to release naked pictures of Emma Watson after her speech at the UN are representative of the entire male population.
