One possible problem is, that he may become more fundamentalist without warning.

If marriage and children are in your future, do some research on the hundreds of Muslim men that take their kids back to a Muslim country and don't allow their 'infidel' wives to ever see them again.
Or their wives go over to a country with/for their children only to find they have no rights and become prisoners.

You gotta admit though, this sounds like propaganda.

Unless you look it up for yourself it sounds like someone is making this cr@p up because he/she hates Muslims

The cognitive dissonance of that would make me slowly hate him.

That's what I was thinking about

Weird he's not praying but yet is super strict about the food.

Just strikes me as indicative of indecision on his part as to just where he is in his religion, and the implication is he could follow you into atheism someday or drag you off to Syria and make you totally miserable, assuming you are even alive at that point.

I would say most of the beheaded wives once thought that their husband was loving and reasonable at one time or another..

Ask yourself several questions:

1. Are the two of you happy together?
2. Do the differences in your belief systems cause serious friction between you?
3. Do you think you can continue to make it work?

If the answers are Yes, No, and Yes then don't care what others think.

Anyone think he might just not like non-halal food? It's hard to overcome food prejudices picked up at an early age. The Muslim kids I know practically get physically ill at the thought of accidentally eating haram food.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Had too look up the film, yeah guess so. Looks like the film was based on one of the many true stories.

One of the happier places one of these girls could end up nowadays is Iran.
Or one of the easier places to escape I should say.

I was reading an article not too long ago, where the was a group of Muslim men going around a mall in Pakistan stabbing women they seen without a male escort.

The naivety some girls have getting involved with young Muslim men. It's so dangerous.

I could possibly understand if the man was older and had a somewhat more rigid interpretation of his beliefs, at least then they (the women) could make an informed decision.
But at a young age there is just no way to know how a Muslim is going to turn out, they might go threw a trauma in their life and rediscover their religion. Or just meet an Imam who helps them understand it.

They might just have a family member who disapproves of non-Muslim western culture and pressures an honour killing.
