The religion of peace..
I think it's time to hand over the strap line.. Islam is clearly NOT the religion of peace, so it's time for the peaceful followers of Islam to "make hay"... show us, in the name of islam what you have to offer that isn't killing......

None of the abrahamic religions are very peaceful.

Yabut, only Islam is The Religion of Peace™.

Surely that's "The Religion of Blowing to Pieces"?

That would require moderate Muslims to take a good hard look at the life of the prophet Mohammed, and then somehow try to construct a robust counter narrative. Alas, after reading the biography of Mohammed, most people reach for the bucket.

Hence you really have to be of warped mind to remain a moderate Muslim. For most moderates, I suspect, they are superficial Muslims who pray and fast, but don't want to know anything deep about their religion. Superficiality is the only way to remain a sane moderate Muslim.

Or they keep the peaceful verses in their head and somehow pretend the other verses don't exist.

I have a friend who is a Malaysian Muslim. She told me she "does not want to know many verses" and yet is very serious about praying and fasting and halal food. It's a very strange mindset. Sadly, her children are more stricter than she is.

The bottom line is: I don't believe it's possible to construct a counter narrative. Mohammed was the embodiment of evil, and you can only be a moderate Muslim by some form of denial, not by any intellectually credible position.

But I don't understand. The OP clearly is asking about what you think about Islamic extremists. How does saying Christianity is also evil answer his questions.

Person 1: Some people enjoy and relish killing their fellow Africans in Nigeria and Sudan

Person 2: yeah . . . But you know the Romans were just as worse. They enjoyed seeing people get eaten by lions and gladiators kill each other

Actually in africa the people who call themselves Christians there are still burning witches and things like this. It wasn't so long ago that Joseph Kony's Christian gang were the center of attention.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.
