I don't seem to experience a lot of envy, but I have felt inadequate. When I first met very wealthy people through my wife who sells her artwork to them I felt awkward. But in hanging out some I realized that we are much more alike than different with the exception of bank accounts and possessions.
My older brother was obsessed with owning things. But he always seemed wholly lacking in the capacity to enjoy anything once he got it. (He has lived a miserable and unhappy life.)
In some ways wealth is like an after life. I would be very careful not to assume you'd have any more clue how to be satisfied in an after life or with wealth if you haven't found satisfaction in the moment as you are. Of course, that being said, who wouldn't want to be able to afford more of the things one cannot currently afford?
