Nope

On a subject like this I take both sides of the arguement and question everything and hold on to what is good. What I've done here is provide you all with some of the questions and processes I use to look at a subject with 'fresh eyes.'
Most of what i have provided in the way of posts is the result of the "Holding on to what is Good."
Quote:It seems that a lot of members of the Christian Right have a problem with the word, tolerance. They do not define it like the rest of the population.
I do not disagree. Just look at the body of my works just on this subject. While I will be the first to admit calling people out who hate in the name of 'tolerance' as hypocrites. (Because they literally are defining the word by their actions) I have 'tolerated' your right to hold fast to the social indoctrination that teaches intolerance of the intolerant, in that I have not attacked anyone's personal mental capasity or their ablity to reason. On the other hand just look at how some many 'enlightened thinkers' have shown me the same level of contempt for simply trying to divide hate from segergation. So obviously we do not define the word 'tolerance' in the same way.
Quote:I have a theory that because they deal with absolutes in their faith they like absolutes in their lives.
You don't seem to understand basic Christianity. Yes God deals in absolutes. However we all fall far short of those absolutes and find ourselves in need of grace. Now God's grace is conditional, in that in order to receive it we must also offer it.
Quote:Tolerancecan't mean just minding your own business and being polite to others.
Again look at what was said here and tell me again how it is your belief that the majority of what was said to me up to this post was 'being polite.'
Quote:To a right leaning Christian, it has to mean "Accept everything' In their eyes, they win an argument against what they term a liberal if they bring up that their opponent doesn't 'tolerate' any number of really crappy behavior.
If you think this is what I have been doing here you don't understand the nature of the topic. You have defaulted into a spirit of absolutes.. That if argue against your current position I must be arguing the polar oppsite position.
Again, My purpose here was to seperate hate from segergation.
Quote:There also appears to be an upside down world for right leaning Christians where what most of us consider good human behavior---treating others with respect and fairness regardless of their skin color, religion or nationality---somehow is a sign of being liberal and tolerant and therefore bad.
Not at all. What I have pointed out is while you all claim to be liberal minded and tolerant you actions show the exact oppsite.[/quote]

No defense of bigotry merits courtesy, no matter what high-falutin' rationale you're trying to use as a shelter. Bigotry, and its defense, merit only contempt.
It's a free country, and you have every right to be racist. That doesn't mean that people like me, who think you're a bigot, don't tolerate you. If you weren't tolerated, you'd be in jail, or six feet under. Your views are tolerated -- but they are also answered, using the same free speech that you're using.
You're clearly confusing tolerance and silence -- probably in an vain effort to shelter your bigotry from scrutiny and criticism. You have every right to speak your ignorant little mind, and I served four years defending that right even though I despise the opinions you spout. You have every right to be ignorant.
You do not have the right to be free of criticism or contempt ... and why should anyone deny you those, when you're obviously working so hard to earn them?

Drich, stop taking your narcissist pills in the morning.

If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.
— In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be unwise. But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols. We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant. We should claim that any movement preaching intolerance places itself outside the law, and we should consider incitement to intolerance and persecution as criminal, in the same way as we should consider incitement to murder, or to kidnapping, or to the revival of the slave trade, as criminal.”

The words of great thinkers are strong yet savory meat. I love reading thoughts more discerning than mine, yet ones I can still comprehend.
It isn't entertaining for me to play chess with either a simpleton or master. The former is too easy, the latter dominates.
Yet playing with one better than myself yet still within reach is pure enjoyment.
In contrast, Drich has brought 'A' ball to the major leagues and thinks himself ready to play.
Certain minds think themselves clever in the following argumentation:
You claim there are no absolute truths? Is that an absolute truth?
You claim intolerance is a universal evil? You are intolerant.
You told a lie? You are a liar.
These are lesser minds. Their words lack flavor.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?
