No, once we accept that it isn't their fault, it means we have to recognise the only valid way to effectively deal with obesity is as a public health matter, and not as an individual matter.

Ok then, I'll leave it at that, I believe you have a point, but it certainly doesn't represent every obese person, its much more than that, and weakness has a lot to do with it also, but who knows, maybe down the track we will know more.

The point is, psychoslice, that we already do know a lot more than what you let on about, for example:

“Leptin is the primary signal from energy stores and exerts negative feedback effects on energy intake. In common obesity, leptin loses the ability to inhibit energy intake and increase energy expenditure; this is termed leptin resistance.” (Enriori et al., 2006, p. 1).

Obesity is caused by leptin resistance, not by overeating. I don't see how you can't grasp that simple fact. Type 2 diabetes is caused by insulin resistance, and in its case it's true that insulin resistance is caused by the prolonged systematic over-consumption of dietary sugars; and thus it's generally considered preventable. In the case of obesity, we now know that over-consumption is not the cause of leptin resistance, it is specific food types. I.e. foods that activate chemical signals which block leptin. Lustig, for instance, believes there's evidence to show that insulin blocks leptin, and that the higher one's insulin levels are the higher their resistance to leptin will be. Leptin resistance is the cause of over-consumption, not the other way around.

The thing is that I do agree with you on one level, but most obese people are fat because of bad eating habits, I can agree with you on your level, but can you also agree on my level, and if you can't, then I also cannot understand how you cannot see that.

Incorrect.

The food industry thrives on over-selling their product, just like any industry. The more you sell the more you profit, it's capitalism 101. It's 100% true for the pharmaceutical companies too, which is why I detest seeing their ads on TV.

What the food industry did was designed foods that could be over-consumed. Although they didn't know about the hunger hormones at the time, the net effect is that they produced products that cause leptin resistance.
