Evil thoughts.

RE: Evil thoughts.
I think there is a radiolab episode about this, where some shockingly high percentage of people (65% maybe?) have had very specific fantasies about killing people. So it could be fairly common. Sometimes I think my dark side is worse than other peoples, but it's really hard to tell.

So it could be that maybe nothing is to be done about what you are thinking about and it could be normal. However if you are having frequent thoughts of suicide I would say that's a different matter entirely and you should talk to a professional

I have a lot of "evil" thoughts and I have a very dark sense of humour.

The important thing is that we don't act on them.

I have a pretty dark sense of humor also that I don't share with many people. My childhood had some bleak moments so I learned to cope by laughing at some things that other people wouldn't find appropriate.

Mystic Knight, we all have dark thoughts. As long as you aren't dwelling on them to the point of obsession or acting on them, you are okay.

I've never had thoughts about killing people, but breaking things just for the fun of it, yeah I get those from time to time. I think it's sorta like masturbation: there are two kinds of people, those who have that kind of thought from time to time and liars.

Breaking things isn't really evil though. Maybe pointless.

I have more thoughts about breaking bones than outright killing people too.

It is when the things belong to others. And those are the things I think about breaking.

Hmmm, I guess. It just seems pretty tame on the evil scale. Personally I'm just going to keep my evil thoughts to myself.

The first thing that came to mind is my struggle with road rage I had when I was younger. It's still comes a long sometimes. But not as much. It can stay with me too long. My thoughts get out of hand and dark. I have experienced what the OP described. But not often.

RE: Evil thoughts.
I was listening to a show on BBC world service on the way to work yesterday about just this topic. The official term is "intrusive thoughts" and is linked to low level OCD which most people have at various times. Apparently it's quite common in post natal mothers where they have thoughts about harming the baby but would never actually do it.
