How and why?
I asked, sought and knocked for the truth, and funny thing. God showed up.
Why, because I felt like there was more and I wanted to know the truth no matter what.

You did? No emotional troubles, brow beating by the community, or indoctrinatation from parents? You were an adult atheist living a pretty good life, and decided religion was a good idea?
I was 20 ish, mom was in the church but dad was 'spiritual' (do what 'feels' right)
I orginally went because a girl I like invited me, I stayed because I found God.

I guess you were lucky. I spent twenty years in the church, and around religious people, and I didn't find god. Maybe you can ask him to give me a call, because he's not answering my phone.
As much as christianity likes to say "universe requires creator, so Yahweh", I guess some people could miss the chasm between "divine creator" and "Jesus is the one true god".

Yes, yes, we've all seen your signature. But how did that actually proceed? I'm honestly interested...

The only thing showing up in church was an overwhelming sense of fundamental boredom. I still remember the sense of relieve when it was communion time. Only one more crappy song to sit through and the whole thing would be over.

I can say after nearly 15000 posts here and other websites in the last 8 or 9 years I can Honestly say there is not a topic about God atheism or religion In General that I have not researched.
Now you can pretend that I just shoot from the hip because I lead with the simple explaination first, but on any topic if you wish we can wade in to the deep end at any point. If I lead with the simple it is so everyone has the oppertunity to have the same understanding.
I do not have a need to toot my own horn just because I have spent hours reading and researching, more often times I put in hours of research so I can simplify a precept accurately.

After an hour of sunday school, which was at least had some participation involved, I certainly didn't want to sit through an hour or more of just listening to someone talk and group singing. Especially as the lunch hour came, and sometimes went. If it went on past twelve I would walk out. My grandmother had to cover her watch in the hopes that I wouldn't notice what time it was.

My sticking point with christianity was the idea of Hell. Hell didn't scare me because I 'logic-ed' my way though the unviablity of Hell.
So God sent me for a visit:

I do not have a need to toot my own horn just because I have spent hours reading and researching, more often times I put in hours of research so I can simplify a precept accurately. I'm still waiting to hear your logic in accepting and rejecting, solely on the exclusive authority of Church councils, which books are divine and which are not, while at the same time rejecting the exclusive authority of the Church. But if you don't really want to confront that issue, again, I would understand, and besides, I too am interested---like the others---in hearing what powerful arguments and the evidence in support of them persuaded you from your genuine skepticism.
