I don't see anything emotional. I only ever got anything emotional after I'd acted on my understanding. A kind of reassuring burn from feeling something was so right, if that make sense? People put a lot of store in that I guess.

It sounds like you are saying that science and reason can neither confirm nor deny the truth of Christianity. So you chose to believe and then you got some confirmation from God afterwards.

If that's not accurate, maybe you can correct it.

I agree wrist I think I overstated the conceptual bit confusing it with something else. I liked your post though Smile

@ doodle

I don't think science can, no. Reason, sure. I use it all the time and have seen others do it successfully too. Not that anyone should be convinced either way, as only God convicts.

I chose to believe once convinced of it's truth. Confirmation did indeed follow.

It may be important to add that this wasn't a one shot deal for me, if that's relevant to your understanding. I quit and then chose to believe again, in the meantime becoming militantly atheist mentally at least.

I may make "the wrist" my new user name and my avatar, of course, will be:

Jerkoff

Now what shall I make my "handle"?

If I said that that be hounded for reasoning. As you're an atheist you don't need to qualify that at all.

What's asserted without support can be dismissed without support. You should know that by now. At least enough not to think you're being specially singled-out when it happens with one of your posts.

It depends how you look at them Robbie. If you work it out, there are plenty of things you can find out. You can know what it's not, for example. It's not like you have no information to go on. Hence all of the information on the subject.

Sure. Clearly, it's not something.

God is a logical proposition that, because there can be no 'knowledge' of it as such, you are completely free to accept or reject. I don't think it's possible not to consider associated problems, no matter what you choose.

'Proposition-hood' seems to be as close as God gets to being demontrated.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Were you raised as an atheist or a Christian?
In other words was it: atheist, Christian, atheist, Christian?
Or was it: Christian, atheist, Christian?

I was raised by atheists as an atheist doodle. I didn't get exposed to Christianity until my late 20's.

So atheist > Christian > atheist > Christian

So atheist > Christian > atheist > Christian

Hah! I THOUGHT you used to be an atheist doodle!

As an aside, I take back my remark that it's so difficult to find things out about you a page or two back. You're being very forthcoming, and I appreciate it.
