Jewish Funamentalists and Segregation

Jewish Funamentalists and Segregation
A recent comment in another thread reminded me of Haredic Jewish men disrupting plane flights by refusing to sit next to *gasp* women and demanding that other passengers, and women in particular change seats to accommodate them. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,...44,00.html To understand the problem here, if it doesn't hit you immediately, just imagine what would have happend had they had refused to sit next to black people, Asians, or American Indians, or any other racial group, or next to gay men for that matter.

And what did happen? Well, the airline didn't force anyone to move, but then it didn't do what it would undoubtedly done had the request been that they not sit next to a Chinese person, ask them to sit where assigned or exit the plane, no refund offered.

As the above sign (located in North London) makes clear, this is not just a flight problem. Or a street problem either:

Quote:Haredi publications in Israel generally do not print pictures of women and girls. In 2009, the Israeli newspaper Yated Ne’eman famously doctored a photograph of the Israeli cabinet in order to replace two female ministers with images of men.

[Thank you Brian37, for reminding me]

I am not surprised...again that is the first religion to monetize off of slavery, and tricking people into believing in god.

They're not remotely like the old hebrews were like. They don't work, they don't do military service, they don't do anything besides mindfucking their holy book.

So they couldn't have built a society like the one mentioned in the bible.

In fact, they are a grwoing nuisance for secular Israelis, since they let them do all the work including the fighting part, whilst radicalising the society.

My reaction on seeing a sign like that would be to cross the street. In London, I'd do it. I'd think twice in many parts of the world though.

I'm not entirely sure about the jewish sects and their degrees of fundamentalism. In the second district of Vienna is a pretty sizeable community of jews wearing the same garb as the ones on the plane. It's the traditional jewish district. My mother grew up there too between the wars, but in a secular family.

The reason why I'm mentioning this is, they don't socialise, but I've never seen them evade women either or put up any signs.

And people wonder why the middle east is left behind technology and development wise.

I don't know how many Jewish groups do this. Not many is my guess. I've visited, or just walked through Jewish parts of town on my way elsewhere in a number of cities and never felt troubled as an outsider. It's colorful (metaphorical obviously as the garb is black and white) and fun.

It's the demand that other people comply with that kind of sexism that irks me. Though frankly, it makes me think about the is religious indoctrination child abuse thread, and I would say that a number of these groups are abusing their female children by teaching them that they are inferior.

Why is it that religious sexism is okay, but not secular sexism? Again I don't mean in the case of women who voluntarily enter into this kind of nonsense, but children who have no choice.

Ironic that they spend so much time hating each other when they are so much alike.
