You have every right to be here, and that is great, but I do not have any obligation to talk to you. I find your points short sighted and annoying more than informative. I know you like the exhibition of argument, but I am so tired of talking to Christians. You can sit and rot in your churches for all I care, I'm going to move on, and humanities best and brightest are coming with me!

Or in other words...

This. I like it.

At the core, this is how I feel.

My boyfriend probably has a different opinion on that matter...

People suck.
Theists really suck.

Maybe, but I'm too old to start. You go first.

We'll see how far you get.

RE: Hello, Everyone.
She always has as far as I know.

Welcome to the forums TD,

I still don't know whether to proselytize atheism or even how to go about it. Here is our message, or at least how it seems to look to other people:

1. Yeah, so when you die you just become dirt and cease to exist
2. The universe just is, and there is probably no reason for anything

How can we couch our position, in a positive way (I.E. this is what is good about atheism rather than this is bad about theism) to convince people?

Funny, but still problematic because it is talking only about what is left behind which is a negative position. Religion has awesome things to put buts in the seats:

1. Poof! you now have a soul that will live forever
2. There is a man in the sky watching everything you do and he cares about you and has a plan for your life
3. By clasping your hands together you can make shit happen
4. If you believe, then when you die you will go to a place that magically has no pain or suffering where apparently you will have no memory of your atheist son who is burning in agony for all eternity in Hell
5. um, potlucks?

According to what I believe much of this list is lies although I DO believe in potlucks! Not that I would want to engage in lying but what does atheism have to offer? The only thing I can think of is a more rational approach to life, a potentially clearer mind, and... ?

Thoughts?

What do you mean 'we' kemo sabe? Cool Shades

As it turns out,I tried that for about 35 years then got really sick of wasting my time. These days I seldom make the effort and have much deeper level of contentment. This is not always shared by those around me.

I actually kinda totally agree with Min.

Theists qualify as human. [with a certain generosity of spirit] . Humans as a species really suck. Therefore theists suck.

I don't just hate theists. I hate everyone equally. It seems less judgmental and saves so much time. Of course I do make exceptions. At last count there were 213.Devil
