That's actually not really an issue. You didn't alter the meaning of the quote in any material way; you merely highlighted a portion you felt was relevant. It would be helpful to acknowledge that you did it, but as long as the emphasis is obvious enough, we ought to be able to work it out.
For example, if someone were to quote this post but change it to "I am a big smelly poopy head", that would be a no-no.

Yeah, I'm more inclined to let little fish like that go. I don't think anyone's going to be misled just by a simple emphatic highlighting. Though as I say, it's helpful if the embolding or whatever is noted; I wouldn't necessarily come down too hard on someone who forgot.

Even better, consider whether you need to quote it at all, particularly if your post follows on directly from it. See, I'm referencing IATA's post but you can easily follow the flow of the conversation even though I'm not quoting him.
