The worst argument for any religion is: "But you have to believe in something!"

Welcome to the forum Homeless Nutter
![]() The new atheist experience is out, and the first call is one of the worst put together arguments I have heard for "god". It begins at 7:55. Count the fallacies. http://www.atheist-experience.com/archiv...-01-18.mp3 It sounds to me like, "Please let me have my god! Please! I need it! I'll say anything!" That we need Jesus in order to have a happy, joyous and fulfilled life.
That our dreams and goals don't matter, it's what God wants that matters. Okay then... (January 22, 2015 at 7:09 am)Homeless Nutter Wrote: The worst argument for any religion is: "But you have to believe in something!" ![]()
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
-Stephen Jay Gould
"We are too complicated to have come about by chance."
"Natural selection? That's too complicated for me to understand. I must have been designed." "My parents are Christians." "My parents are atheists." "I want to be elected to President of the United States." "My local church offers free cake and tea." Actually, that last one isn't such a bad argument.

The all-powerful creator of the Universe had no choice but to sacrifice himself to himself in order to atone for the "sin" of two people (whom he created) breaking "the rules" (which he made), even though he knew beforehand everything that they would do, because (being all-powerful) he was incapable of changing his own rules.
No contradictions there, nope.
"My parents wouldn't lie to me."
In every country and every age, the priest had been hostile to Liberty.
