CPAC is the most libertarian leaning of any Republican anything. It doesn't really represent the regular GOP. Having said that, as an Atheist who leans conservative on a lot of things, it's nice to be pandered to at least a little.

I think as far as people who might carry the bible around wherever they go, as Phil suggests, the scandals would be when they preach one thing, and are caught doing something else. Carrying a bible won't keep the scandals down. Practicing what you preach will. Not that the bible has a whole lot of good advice for being a good person that will help humanity. Save for such kernels as "do unto others as you would have them do unto you", which you could learn from sources outside the bible.

Just watched a vid on Facebook of David Silverman being interviewed at CPAC.
Apparently he's a conservative who believes simultaneously in small government AND a strong military.
I'm still trying to work that one out..
