How could it never occur? Of course it could occur. The student was bound by the agreement to pay after his first win in a case. Just because the student didn't have any cases yet doesn't mean he won't ever have any.

If I was the student, after I graduated I would become an engineer.

I think the point is that Protageras means to lose, thus ensuring victory for the student which according to the agreement means he will need to be paid. Adrian already solved this one though.

"Could" (<-- being that it was possible that the following be true) "never occur". I meant there was the possibility it might never happen, although I agree with you had I meant that it would never occur (read: different than could never occur) Smile

If they both are willing to stick by what they state both arguments are right until the judgement of the case is actually made. it is only then can one be can one be deemed incorrect.
