You talk about there being evidence out there which proves your point, but you haven't presented any of this actual evidence, that's all I'm saying. And in that respect, I understand Daystar's position in most debates.
However, posting links as reference won't help as Daystar doesn't follow links, and an in-depth summary of the experiments which lead to the discoveries would be a waste of your effort. Maybe we should start filling up the science section with some actual information, explanations, experiments, etc. Maybe Daystar would be more tempted to click the link if he knew it was to a thread on these boards posted by us religious atheists =/
Well, a forum is about debating and the body of evidence I present is the total of scientific knowledge. My claim that earth was formed after the big bang is pretty straightforward and amply documented. There is no use in replicating that over here, so it seems that in this debating environment referral to specific parts of that body of evidence should suffice as a starter. Then we hopefully can identify the parts that are disputed. As long as Daystar's only evidence consists of faith claims like "the bible is a reliable witness" I am not urged to strain myself with replication of evidence that's available to all with a few mouse clicks. Let's first find out which part of my claim Daystar does not subscribe to. Maybe he can start with explaining how earth was formed prior to the big bang without spatial extension.

Maybe by divine inspiration on a personal level, like in prayer. That surely is the most safe option to retreat to.

You know Daystar ... the more I read your stuff the more convinced I am you're just another fundy Christian with a semi-literalistic style belief in your bible (and let's be honest here, none of them actually are truly literal in their belief) and you're just boxing clever.

Kyu

Well, you #@$%ing @#$%&!

I am no fundy Xian. The literalistic style remark. I take the Bible literally when it is literal and otherwise when that is appropriate. Not out of convenience. It would be a great deal easier for me to take the account of Adam and the flood as figurative, but that isn't how it was meant.

Well I really don't see that much different between you and the Fundy's ... if you actually had any real smarts you'd accept evolution at least in a theistic sense but you can't even accept that can you. That, along with your religious beliefs, makes you a Fundy in my book.

Edit Postscript: I haven't talked as much about the Bible here as I normally would, or as much as I will here in the not so distant future. Right now I am concentrating on seeing things from your perspective. Understanding where you come from.

Where I come from?

The devil's hands cover my eyes. I stand before you with a demon on my back, his engorged member invading my anular regions. I cannot perceive the truth of your words. I can speak only lies whispered into my ear by his infernal tongue, thinking it my own genius.

Only your heroic faith can save me! You MUST save me! This task is one that GOD has set before you. Only by leading me into God's light can you enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Good luck.

Unlike the fundies I know the Bible, and remove all the pagan nonsense, and most important to you, political, and social clout.

I don't vote because I await God's kingdom and am no part of the world. This means I don't try and morally police the globe or interfere with Christendom. You want abortion and gay rights? Have at it with no interference from me. Other than discussing those issues with you I exert no other influence.

Evolution is a joke. What I don't understand is how anyone could be so desperate to escape the bounds of Christendom that they would create the need to believe such stupid nonsense like it was sacred. You would think they could have come up with something somewhat more sensible since Darwin - who is nothing more than a 100 year dead idiot equivalent to a TV evangelist.

I seem to be able to type with my limited use of my left arm.

You honestly think no corrections were made to the theory since it was brought forward in 150 years? That statement alone shows the sheer ignorance of the theory.

I agree with Kyuuketsuki. All the fundy characteristics are there. All emotion, docile submission to dogma and utter lack of any fact based rational argument.

Daystar,
Evolution is a joke? Evolution is backed up by tons of evidence. By tons of fossils but also by DNA. Evolution has moved on hugely since Darwin's time but the fundamental truth of it is still there. Natural selection.
I've heard on more than one occasion that you can even get your DNA sequenced and it shows that your origins are in Africa. That we are all Africans under the skin.
If you say evolution is a joke you obviously don't even understand the fundamentals of it.
When I was 9 years old I understood natural selection for a start. I simply knew that the successful organisms survived and reproduced more and the less successful organisms didn't survive as often and reproduced less. In the end the fittest survive. I understood the fundamentals at 9 years old.
Now I understand that its a bit more complex than that. We now understand its more about the genes than the individual. Its the selfish gene not the selfish individual.
And by the way, Darwinism is NOT a social philosophy! Its science. Its about how stuff works not how life should be lived.
