I recently wrote a piece about conspiracy nuts. When doing research I had my fill of christian tinfoilery with more Armageddon porn than any sane person can handle. I can't imagine posting anything on their pages, since I can only handle so much ignorance and outright stupidity without resorting to well deserved insults.

I never cussed (Christians have the ability to ignore evidence and logical argument if any profanity is used) and never insulted. All I did was ask honest questions, respond to their questions honestly, and point out fallacies and inaccuracies.

The longest I ever lasted was probably about 10 posts. Banned every time.

I have a great plan in mind. I might join a catholic one and an Islamic one, and just post honestly and join in debates. I will not let on as to who I am or what my beliefs (or a lack of) are and if all is good and everything moves swimmingly, I will feed them some false information, just to make things interesting i.e. things that both Catholics and Muslims hate. Then we will see which forum would ban me first. Big Grin

At one stage I wasn't sure if the Catholics 'were all there' until I read the full story of St. Bernadette. Before you join one of our forums please read up on St. Bernadette (Do it with an open mind) and it would be interesting what your views are on this Catholic saint.

When I first started visiting FSTDT, I would click through to the source site in an attempt to find some context that didn't make the quote seem absolutely fucking nuts. I was always disappointed. Most Christian sites are in dire need of a kudos system. You will frequently find 15 'praise the lord', 'love me some Jesus', 'glory to God', and similar type posts between anything of substance. If you ever feel gloomy about life, just traipse on over to Rapture Ready. I guarantee you'll feel fan-fucking-tastic when contemplating your emotional health realizing that otherwise normally functioning people are bat shit crazy.

I went to find it and all I saw was a page dedicated to the movie. Got a link? I need madness this afternoon Big Grin

Yes, link, please.

I did visit the Fundies say the Darndest Things (top 100) page.
Chilling.
So foreign to what I consider sane and rational thought. Yet it persists.... Like Katy Perry (shiver.)
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat? Huh

https://www.facebook.com/persecutedmovie

It is the movie page, I was linked to it by a religious family member about a year ago with a "See I told you Christian persecution is happening in america."-like message attached. Just leaf through some of the posts and you'll see some serious fundie bullshit.

At least the comments aren't all nauseating...

Quote:Getting backlash for parroting the litany of hateful garbage in the bible is persecution? You people are hilarious.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

I find it funny how christians feel persecuted in the US when they are clearly persecuting others so openly.
Then they complain when people call them out on it.
Atheism is a non-prophet organization join today.

RE: Atheists on religious forums
I see only two reasons to be an active member on a religious forum: if you are a researcher and need to collect data or if you are a troll. Otherwise there's a probability arbitrary close to one of encountering one or more absolutely crazy nutjobs that are going to prevent any sort of reasonable discussion from ever taking place. If you want to debate with a theist you'd like to do it on neutral grounds where there are no nutjubs to pull their shenanigans and potentially abuse moderational power. As for me, I've never been a member on any religious forum for any reason.
