All of this is reminding me of a video I posted in another thread, of Neil deGrasse Tyson responding to a question about UFOs and aliens, and addressing some other issues in excerpts at the end.

In the video, as an aside (as it isn't his main point), he says that optical illusions should be called "brain failures." They are a failure of human perception, in which one's brain gets it wrong. Mangy monkeys.
