One of the better ones.
In every country and every age, the priest had been hostile to Liberty.

Granted, he was a religious asshat, but I knew him personally, I went to school with his daughters and was relatively close to the family back in the day. I had dinner at their house on more than one occasion. For whatever faults he had, he was a true believer and completely sincere, no matter how wrong he was. That, at least, makes him better than most televangelists.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide mankind that cannot be achieved as well or better through secular means.
